Our Story
In early 2022 I wanted to import a Supra from Japan for myself. I already had experience importing many cars from Japan into New Zealand. When I tried to do it in Australia, finding clear information was extremely difficult.
I spent months working out the rules and process. Even government departments were often unable to give clear answers. Eventually I worked it out.
While bringing my Supra over, I asked some mates whether they wanted anything from Japan. One of my mates wanted an RX-7. I researched the pricing and it was considerably cheaper than buying the equivalent car in Australia. He trusted me to handle the process.
I helped bring his RX-7 over alongside my Supra. I did not charge him anything. I was simply helping a mate. When the car arrived he was ecstatic. He said:
“Mate, this is brilliant. You should be helping other people do this.”
That was the moment the idea for Prestige Car Imports really started. I reached out to more people, ran an ad, and within roughly three months the phone would not stop ringing. That became Prestige Car Imports. We have since helped import more than 400 vehicles.

Owner & Vehicle Sourcing
Dyson is a Tasmania-born Aussie and car enthusiast. He sources vehicles worldwide and stays with clients throughout the import, from the first enquiry through compliance and delivery. Prestige Car Imports started in 2022 after he imported a Supra for himself and helped a mate bring an RX-7 over alongside it.
Administration & Logistics
Tayla is Dyson’s sister. She looks after administration, logistics and client communication: the paperwork, shipping updates and day-to-day detail that keep an import on track. Clients hear from her throughout the process, not only when something needs chasing.
A 1972 Hakosuka GT-R is one of those cars you don’t forget. The client was after something very specific. We helped find it at a dealer in Japan through our connections, off market, then imported it. A proper Hakosuka GT-R, not a lookalike.
This is a 2016 Alpina B6 Edition 50. We helped bring it over from Singapore. Alpina built only 50 of them worldwide, and to our knowledge this is the only one in Australia. We helped get it added to the SEVS list so it could come in and go on the road.
A 2002 gated-manual Lamborghini Murciélago. We helped source this one off market from a seller in Hong Kong. Not a gallery car. This is the older Murciélago with a manual gate, the sort of import where every detail has to be right.
