With Prestige Car Imports you can import your dream car from Japan. For us to begin inspecting vehicles and trying to win one for you we require a deposit of $1190 AUD. The total fee we charge will depend on the vehicles final landed and complied price.

12 – 16 weeks ETA from purchase at auction to driving in Australia
The expected costs are below and based on an RX7 we imported:
Once you are ready to buy or have a vehicle inspected, a deposit fee of $1190 is required. The fee is not refundable, so please be ready to begin the process 100%. The fee lasts forever once paid. The balance of the fee is due once we win the car.
The total fee ranges from $1190 – $9990 AUD and is based on the landed and complied price of the vehicle.
Under 30k = $1190 AUD
30-60k = $1490 AUD
60-90k = $1990 AUD
90k+ = case by case basis, max $9990 AUD for vehicles over $200,000 AUD.
We will get a full report from my guys on the ground in Japan who will let me know of any modifications and issues the vehicle may have. I send this to you and I let you know how much I think we will need to win that one. You can decide to cancel any vehicle that we had viewed and didn’t come back to meet our expectation, there is no extra fee for this.
Once we win, the vehicle payment will be due to the auction house in Japan. Generally I have my clients send me the funds and I handle the currency transfer however you are welcome to do this if you prefer and have an FX account setup.
We then book shipping, it takes 2-3 weeks for shipping to be confirmed and booked in. The vehicle should leave within 4-8 weeks of purchase.
Once on the boat it takes around 3-4 weeks to arrive. Once it is about to arrive in Australia the GST, gov fees, customs and shipping is due. I then organise the tow to compliance, once finished at compliance payment is due.
In total it takes around 12-16 weeks for the vehicle to be road ready in Australia.
Payments are made in stages
Today – Pay Deposit ($1190)
Win Car – Pay for car to Japan (pay balance of fee if needed)
8-10 weeks – pay shipping, gst, customs one week before car arrives
12-16 weeks – pay compliance, roadworthy, rego and stamp duty
There are no auctions on Sundays and hardly any cars on Mondays. Tuesday – Saturday are the busiest days.
When I estimate prices, the costs not included are RWC, rego and stamp duty. These costs vary from state to state.
